Job summary

Axon is hiring a Staff Mechanical Engineer, Communications Hardware to own the mechanical design and development of next‑gen, mission-critical hardware from concept through high‑volume production.

You will collaborate with ID, EE, RF, PM, and manufacturing to translate requirements into robust, production-ready designs, balancing durability, sealing, thermal, BMI, and ergonomics while meeting certification standards.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of mechanical product design experience, ideally ruggedized or portable electronics.
• 5+ years of technical leadership, directing teams of 3+ engineers.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Own mechanical design from concept through high-volume production for rugged hardware.
• Balance size, weight, durability, sealing, thermal, RF performance, manufacturability and cost.
• Design complex components using plastic injection molding, metal parts, die casting, machining and adhesives.
• Lead design verification and validation with FEA, tolerance analysis and physical testing.
