Job summary

Slate is seeking a Staff DevOps Engineer to set the technical direction for building, running, and operating our infrastructure in the United States. You will lead through architecture and code, owning hybrid Kubernetes platforms across AWS and self-managed clusters, with on-call responsibilities shared by the team.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in DevOps, site reliability, platform or infrastructure engineering.
• Deep AWS expertise across multi-account environments, IAM, VPC networking and hybrid connectivity.
• Kubernetes production experience on EKS and self-managed clusters; multi-cluster management.
• Strong Python skills and infrastructure-as-code (AWS CDK preferred).
• Experience with CI/CD and GitOps tooling (GitHub Actions, Argo CD/Flux).
• Proven ability to lead architectural decisions without direct reports, and run on-call practices.

Responsibilities

• Architect the Hybrid Kubernetes Platform across AWS and on-prem clusters.
• Define AWS foundation governance, IAM, networking and guardrails.
• Build reliability practices: SLOs, on-call, incident response and observability.
• Provide self-service paths: templates, deployment patterns, reusable libraries.
• Lead design reviews and mentor engineers across teams.
