Job summary

Slate is seeking a Staff DevOps Engineer to design and operate a hybrid Kubernetes platform across Amazon EKS and on-prem clusters. You will own reference architecture for provisioning, networking, secrets, storage, and upgrades, while aligning AWS foundations and governance.

You will lead reliability initiatives, establish SLOs, and drive incident response with blameless postmortems, mentoring teams across Digital, Data Engineering and IT.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in DevOps, site reliability, platform or infrastructure engineering, with direction for production platforms.
• Deep AWS expertise across multi-account environments, VPCs, and hybrid connectivity.
• Kubernetes in production on EKS and self-managed clusters, with cluster lifecycle and upgrades.
• Strong Python and Infrastructure as Code experience; AWS CDK preferred.
• Experience with GitOps and CI/CD tooling; on-call and incident management

Responsibilities

• Architect Slate's Hybrid Kubernetes Platform across EKS and self-managed clusters.
• Define multi-account AWS governance, identity, networking and guardrails.
• Establish reliability practices with SLOs, observability and on-call processes.
• Deliver production-grade infrastructure with design reviews and documentation.
