Job summary

Affi is seeking a Staff Software Engineer on the Order Platform team to shape systems powering post-checkout processes — orders, captures, refunds, and settlements. Own technical direction, mentor senior engineers, and influence decisions with long-term impact.

You will drive reliability and simplicity across engineering systems, leading a senior team in a remote-first environment with strong collaboration across product, design, and analytics.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale.
• Experience with Python or Kotlin and distributed systems.
• Strong API design, reliability, and fault tolerance for payments/commerce domains.
• Track record delivering major features and leading technical initiatives.
• Ability to mentor engineers and drive code quality across teams.

Responsibilities

• Set technical strategy for your team on a year-long horizon.
• Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics to ensure sustainability and risk awareness.
• Advocate for robust technical solutions and operational processes.
• Own team operations, monitoring, and on-call readiness to keep services available.
• Define and enforce coding standards and design practices across the team.
• Develop talent by giving feedback and leading by example.
