Job summary

Affirm is seeking a Staff Engineer to lead projects on the Fraud Decisioning team, building tools and systems that empower fraud prevention across the user journey. You’ll work with Product, ML, Analytics and Business teams to monitor and improve fraud deciders, balancing growth with protection of buyers and merchants.

You will mentor engineers, drive scalable designs, and help shape hiring decisions, while contributing to a remote-friendly, distributed work culture that values clear

Qualifications

• 6-10+ years of software engineering experience with leadership responsibilities.
• Experience architecting and maintaining complex systems.
• Ability to mentor engineers and lead cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute large cross-functional initiatives including definition, specification, execution, and maintenance.
• Generate simple, elegant designs that are easy to deploy and debug, anticipating edge cases.
• Review others’ work and provide constructive feedback to maintain quality across teams.
• Lead and mentor engineers to help them grow and take ownership of their parts of initiatives.
• Incorporate needs from stakeholders and create a common understanding across voices.
• Conduct technical and soft skill evaluations to inform hiring decisions.
