Job summary

Bunnell-Lammons Engineering in Asheville, North Carolina, seeks an Engineering Staff Associate to join our geotechnical and environmental team. You will support senior staff on diverse projects, gaining hands-on experience and working toward professional licensure.

This role emphasizes fieldwork, data collection, and collaboration with engineers, scientists, geologists, and technicians. Travel to local and regional sites is common, and mentorship is provided to help you earn your EIT/GIT

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Civil/Environmental/Geotechnical Engineering or closely related field from ABET-accredited institution.
• 0-2 years of progressively responsible professional experience in relevant fields.
• Currently in progress towards Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Geologist-in-Training (GIT) certification.
• Required to travel regularly to local and regional project sites (SC and surrounding states), potentially overnight, with fieldwork and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical analyses, calculations, and design for engineering projects (site development, foundations, retaining walls, earthwork, pavements).
• Use engineering software for design, modeling, and data analysis (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GeoStudio, gINT, Tablogs).
• Conduct site investigations, field inspections, and data collection to support project objectives.
• Draft exploration reports for review by senior professionals.
• Support in data collection, analysis, and basic report preparation under supervision.

Education

Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Science, or a closely related field
