BUNNELL LAMMONS ENGINEERING in Asheville, NC seeks an Engineering Staff Associate to join our growing geotechnical and environmental team, supporting senior staff on diverse projects and progressing toward professional licensure.

This entry-level role requires an Associate’s degree in a related field, 0-2 years of experience, and a path toward EIT/GIT certification, with regular travel to local and regional project sites and adherence to safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Science, or a closely related field from an ABET-accredited institution.
• 0-2 years of progressively responsible professional experience in relevant fields
• Currently in progress towards Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Geologist-in-Training (GIT) certification.
• Required to travel regularly to local and regional project sites, potentially including overnight stays, and perform extensive fieldwork with safety compliance.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical analyses, calculations, and design for engineering projects including site development, foundation design, retaining walls, earthwork, and pavements.
• Utilize engineering software for design, modeling, and data analysis (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GeoStudio, gINT, Tablogs).
• Conduct site investigations, field inspections, and data collection to support project objectives.
• Draft exploration reports for review by senior professionals.
• Develop foundational knowledge in environmental regulations, civil design, geotechnical investigations, and testing; assist with data collection and basic report prep under supervision.
• Support client communication and maintain professional demeanor while learning project expectations.
