Job summary

BUNNELL LAMMONS ENGINEERING, Asheville, NC, seeks an Engineering Staff Associate to support the Geotechnical Group on environmental, civil, geotechnical projects, under supervision, while pursuing EIT/GIT certification.

Earn hands-on experience in fieldwork, data collection, and reporting, collaborating with engineers, scientists, geologists, and technicians to deliver quality project outcomes.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Science, or a closely related field from an ABET-accredited institution.
• 0-2 years of progressively responsible professional experience in relevant fields
• Currently in progress towards Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Geologist-in-Training (GIT) certification.
• Required to travel regularly to local and regional project sites, potentially including overnight stays, and perform extensive fieldwork with safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Perform analyses, calculations, and design for site development, foundations, retaining walls, earthwork, and pavements.
• Utilize engineering software and tools for design, modeling, and data analysis (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GeoStudio, gINT, Tablogs).
• Perform site investigations, field inspections, and data collection to support project objectives.
• Draft exploration reports for review by senior professionals.
• Develop foundational knowledge in environmental regulations, civil design principles, geotechnical investigations, and construction material testing under supervision.
• Assist in client communication and learning QA/QC procedures in a consulting environment.
• Assist with project planning and scheduling, tracking progress, and communicating delays.
