BUNNELL LAMMONS ENGINEERING in Asheville, NC is seeking an Engineering Staff Associate to join our geotechnical and environmental team. You will support senior staff on diverse projects and learn the ins and outs of engineering consulting from the ground up.

Ideal candidates hold an ABET-accredited associate or bachelor’s degree, 0–2 years' experience, and are pursuing EIT or GIT certification, with willingness to travel regionally and work in varied environments.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Science, or a closely related ABET-accredited field.
• 0-2 years of progressively responsible professional experience in relevant fields.
• Currently in progress towards obtaining Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Geologist-in-Training (GIT) certification.
• Willingness to travel regularly to local and regional project sites (SC and surrounding states).

Responsibilities

• Perform analyses, calculations, and design for site development, foundation design, retaining walls, earthwork, and pavements.
• Use engineering software for design, modeling, and data analysis (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GeoStudio, gINT, Tablogs).
• Conduct site investigations, field inspections, and data collection to support project objectives.
• Draft exploration reports for review by senior professionals.
• Develop foundational knowledge in environmental regulations, civil design, geotechnical investigations, and construction material testing under supervision.
• Assist in client communication and collect data for reports under senior guidance.
• Adhere to quality control procedures and assist in reviewing data and reports.
• Support project planning, scheduling, and tracking performance against timelines.
• Learn risk management, health and safety protocols on project sites and in the office.
• Collaborate across disciplines and assist with vendor coordination and business development activities.

Education

Associate’s degree (Civil/Environmental/Geotechnical Engineering or related ABET-accredited field)
