Job summary

RethinkFirst is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our accounting and finance team, reporting to the Controller. This remote-first role focuses on day-to-day accounting activities and month-end close, ensuring GAAP-compliant, timely financial reporting.

You will collaborate with senior management and auditors to uphold internal controls and accurate financials. Ideal candidates have 2–3 years of accounting experience, strong Excel skills, and experience with Sage Intacct or similar ERP systems.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance, with 2-3 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP functions).
• Experience with ERP system like Sage Intacct preferred.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication (verbal and written), organizational skills, and ability to multi-task.
• Ability to work independently on deliverables to achieve accurate results.
• Ability to prioritize conflicting demands and maintain communication regarding deliverables.
• Ability to communicate effectively with senior management.

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day accounting activities, including bank reconciliations.
• Prepare journal entries with appropriate documentation.
• Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities.
• Assist the month-end close process, including balance sheet and P&L reconciliations.
• Ensure deadlines are met for financial reporting and management review.
• Support external auditors by providing requested documentation.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and GAAP standards.
