Job summary

RethinkFirst is seeking a Staff Accountant to join the accounting and finance team in a remote-friendly role open to candidates in Ohio. The role reports to the Controller and focuses on day-to-day accounting, journal entries, and month-end close processes.

The ideal candidate has 2–3 years of accounting experience, advanced Excel skills, and familiarity with Sage Intacct. Strong analytical, communication, and multitasking abilities are essential to support GAAP compliance and timely reporting.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred or required.
• Advanced Excel with pivot tables and VLOOKUP is required.
• Experience with ERP systems like Sage Intacct is preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities are essential.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and deliver accurate results.
• Ability to prioritize conflicting requests and maintain clear communication with senior management.

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day accounting activities including bank reconciliations.
• Prepare journal entries with supporting documentation.
• Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities.
• Assist the month-end close process including balance sheet and P&L reconciliations.
• Ensure deadlines for financial reporting and management reviews are met.
• Support external auditors with requested documentation.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies.
