• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.

Responsibilities

• Maintain surgical schedule for surgeons.
• Communicate with patients about scheduling, pre-op testing, insurance requirements and surgical consents.
• Coordinate for pre-op testing and pre-authorizations.
• Verify insurance and collect patient payments.
• Schedule follow-up visits and ancillary testing.
• Obtain records/authorizations and enter data in registration systems.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to privacy standards.
• Attend required meetings.

# Specialty Services CounselorLos Angeles, CA 90015## OverviewSalary Range$23.00 - $26.00 Hourly## DescriptionCoordinate and schedule all aspects of patient surgeries for ophthalmologists in multispecialty group practice, including pre-operative testing, insurance verification, obtaining pre-authorizations and scheduling post-operative visits. In addition, provide administrative support including collecting patient payments, performing insurance verification, scheduling follow-up appointments and/or ancillary testing, obtaining records/authorizations, and performing encounter in patient registration system(s).**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES*** Maintains surgical schedule for surgeons* Communicates with patients about: scheduling, pre-op testing and visits, insurance requirements, surgical consents, facility ownership disclosure, transportation requirements, financial requirements, financial hardship assistance* Contacts facilities for scheduling* Arranges for pre-op testing* Schedules pre-op visits* Calls for necessary pre-authorizations* Coordinates paperwork* Maintains patient confidentiality* Attends required meetings**EXPERIENCE:****Minimum Qualifications:*** High School Diploma or GED required* At least one-year experience working in medical field and counseling of surgical patients preferred* Experience in ophthalmology or optometry preferred* Excellent verbal and written communication skills* Detailed oriented, reliable and able to multi-task in a fast-paced, high-volume work environment* Flexible schedule working Monday-Friday**Preferred:*** Over 2 years and up to and including 5 years of experience.**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:*** Excellent verbal and written communication skills* Strong interpersonal skills* Ability to read and interpret basic business correspondence* Strong organizational skills and proven ability to multitask* Proactive work ethic and self-starter* Intermediate computer skill## Qualifications**Qualifications*** 3-5 years minimum of high-level customer service and/or sales experience.* Medical experience is a plus.* College degree is preferred* Ophthalmic certifications are a plus which includes either ABO or COA.* Must be able to manage difficult personalities and multiple tasks with care and accuracy.Azul Vision is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
