Job summary

Azul Vision, Inc. in Los Angeles, CA, is seeking a Specialty Services Counselor to coordinate and schedule all aspects of patient surgeries for ophthalmologists, including pre-operative testing, insurance verification, pre-authorizations and scheduling post-operative visits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year in medical field with patient counseling preferred.
• Ophthalmology/optometry experience preferred.
• Ophthalmic certifications ABO or COA a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.

Responsibilities

• Maintain surgical schedule for surgeons.
• Communicate with patients about scheduling, pre-op testing, insurance requirements and surgical consents.
• Coordinate for pre-op testing and pre-authorizations.
• Verify insurance and collect patient payments.
• Schedule follow-up visits and ancillary testing.
• Obtain records/authorizations and enter data in registration systems.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to privacy standards.
• Attend required meetings.
