Job summary

YES Prep Public Schools is hiring a Special Education Teaching Assistant in Houston, TX for a 10-month term. The role supports Special Education and General Education teachers, assists with behavior management, data maintenance, and tailoring lessons to individual needs.

The position involves one-to-one student support and various classroom duties. Starting dates are aligned with the school year; compensation is hourly.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum 30 semester hours of college credits.
• Current Educational Aide certification or willingness to obtain TEA certification.
• Interest in working one-on-one with a student with significant needs.
• Ability to physically assist students with self-help, mobility, academic, and behavioral skills.
• Commitment to YES Prep Public Schools' mission and core values.

Responsibilities

• Assist Special Education and General Education teachers with supervision of students in all instructional settings.
• Model behavior management techniques and reinforce positive behaviors.
• Maintain data as identified by teachers and IEP goals.
• Tailor lessons to meet individual student needs.
• Assist with lesson plans by practicing and reinforcing learning concepts.
• Assist students in performing self-help and academic skills.
• Provide one-to-one support for students with significant needs.
• Assist with administration and scoring of tests and assignments.
• Implement accommodations and/or modifications as directed.
• Monitor students during transitions and activities.
