Job summary

YES Prep in Houston, Texas is seeking a Special Education Teaching Assistant for a 10-month, hourly role to support students with significant needs under the Special Education Manager. The position offers a competitive hourly wage and a mission-driven culture.

Responsibilities include assisting teachers in all instructional settings, managing behavior, maintaining IEP data, tailoring lessons, and providing one-to-one support, including personal care as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 30 semester hours of college credit.
• Current Educational Aide certification or willingness to obtain TEA certification.
• Interest in one-on-one work with a student with significant needs.
• Ability to physically assist students with self-help, mobility, academic and behavioral skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist Special Education and General Education teachers with supervision of students in all instructional settings.
• Model and reinforce positive behaviors and behavior management techniques.
• Maintain data aligned to IEP goals and Behavior Intervention Plans.
• Assist in tailoring lessons to meet individual student needs.
• Support lesson planning and reinforce learning concepts.
• Assist students with self-help and academic skills; provide one-to-one support as needed.
• Assist with administration and scoring of tests and work assignments.
• Implement accommodations/modifications as directed by teachers.
• Adapt activities and materials to support classroom objectives.
• Monitor students during transitions; provide personal care as needed.
