Job summary

YES Prep is seeking a Special Education Teaching Assistant in Houston, TX for a 10-month term. You will support teachers, assist in behavior management, and tailor lessons to meet individual needs while maintaining data and assisting with assessments.

You will provide one-to-one support for students with significant needs, aid in transitions, and help with accommodations and modifications as directed. Join a mission-driven team delivering student-focused education.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED.
30 college hours or equivalent post-secondary credit.
Current Educational Aide certification or ability to obtain TEA certification.
Interest in working one-on-one with a student with significant needs.
Ability to physically assist students with self-help, mobility, academic and behavioral skills.
Commitment to YES Prep Public Schools mission.
Openness to frequent feedback and evaluation.
Ability to stay calm under stress and meet deadlines.
Capacity to work in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
Willingness to juggle multiple tasks and initiatives.
Team player with desire to grow professionally.

Responsibilities

Assist Special Education and General Education teachers with supervision of students in all instructional settings.
Model positive behavior management and reinforce desired behaviors.
Maintain data aligned with IEP goals and Behavior Intervention Plans.
Tailor lessons to meet individual student needs.
Support lesson planning and reinforce learning concepts.
Help students develop self-help and academic skills.
Provide one-to-one support for a student with significant needs.
Assist with administration and scoring of tests and assignments.
Implement accommodations and/or modifications as directed.
Adapt activities and materials to support classroom objectives.
Monitor students during transitions and supervise both inside and outside the classroom.
Provide personal care services for students as needed.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
