Job summary

YES Prep Public Schools in Houston seeks a Teaching Assistant to support Special Education and General Education teachers handling students with diverse needs. You will assist with supervision, behavior management, and data collection while helping tailor lessons and reinforce learning concepts.

The role requires at least a High School Diploma, 2+ years of relevant work experience, and a commitment to YES Prep’s mission and core values.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• At least 2 years of relevant work experience.
• Interest in working one-on-one with a student with significant needs, including medical needs.
• Ability to physically assist students with self-help, mobility, academic, and behavioral skills.
• Belief in YES Prep Public Schools mission and core values.
• Openness to frequent feedback and high accountability.

Responsibilities

• Assist Special Education and General Education teachers with supervision of students in all instructional settings.
• Assist with behavior management techniques by demonstrating, modeling, and reinforcing desired behaviors.
• Maintain data as identified by teachers, students’ IEP goals, and/or Behavior Intervention Plans.
• Tailor lessons to meet individual student needs.
• Support teachers with lesson plans by practicing and reinforcing concepts.
• Assist students in performing self-help and academic skills.
• Assist with administration and scoring of tests and work assignments.
• Implement accommodations and/or modifications as directed by teachers.
• Adapt activities, assignments, and materials to support classroom objectives.
• Monitor students during transitions throughout the day.
