Job summary

Gwinnett County Public Schools seeks a Paraprofessional Educator to support special education students in a Lawrenceville classroom. The role emphasizes reinforcing IEP goals, assisting with daily activities, and maintaining a safe, positive learning environment.

The ideal candidate will hold a PSC Paraprofessional certificate or meet PSC alternative qualifications, with a HS diploma or GED and appropriate assessments.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required with passing Praxis Parapro or GACE Parapro assessments
• 60 semester or 90 quarter hours from PSC-approved college can substitute assessments
• Paraprofessional Educator certificate from PSC required
• Experience in licensed child care environment preferred

Responsibilities

• Adapt classroom activities and materials under supervising teacher to reinforce IEP goals and objectives
• Provide first aid and medical assistance as directed by health professionals
• Administer tests, homework, and makeup work to support teachers
• Assist students with disabilities with grooming, daily living tasks, and mobility needs
• Confer with teachers regularly to evaluate progress and implement IEP objectives
• Monitor students to maintain a safe and positive learning environment
• Record-keeping tasks and support functions for teacher materials and data
• Deliver instruction in small and large group activities to reinforce instructional objectives
• Respond to emergency situations and apply crisis intervention procedures
