Job summary

Gwinnett County Public Schools seeks a dedicated Paraprofessional Educator to support instructional programs and assist in supervising and educating special needs students across classrooms. The role involves implementing IEP plans, data collection, and collaboration with teachers.

Candidates should hold a Paraprofessional certificate (PSC required) and meet Georgia education requirements; experience in licensed child care preferred; strong interpersonal skills and proficiency with Microsoft

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED and required Parapro assessments (Praxis or GACE).
• 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours from PSC-approved college or university.
• Knowledge of child development and ability to support IEP goals.
• Experience working in licensed child care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Adapt classroom activities and materials to support IEP objectives.
• Administer first aid and medical assistance as directed by health professionals.
• Administer tests and homework to support teachers.
• Assist medically fragile or physically disabled students with daily needs.
• Assist students with disabilities with grooming, accessibility, and daily tasks.
• Confer with teachers to evaluate progress and implement IEP objectives.
• Implement and collect data under supervision of the teacher and behavioral plans.
• Monitor students to provide a safe and positive learning environment.
• Perform record keeping and support functions for needed records/materials.
• Provide instruction in small/large groups to reinforce instructional objectives.
• Respond to emergencies and apply crisis intervention procedures.
• Assist with monitoring duties in hallways/lunchroom/restrooms/bus duty; escort students as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
