Job summary

Gwinnett County Public Schools is seeking a Paraprofessional Educator to support instructional programs and assist in supervising and instructing special needs students across classrooms and related settings.

The role involves implementing IEP plans, attending meetings, and collaborating with teachers to reinforce learning, while aiding in daily student care and safety across various school environments.

Qualifications

• Experience in a licensed child care environment preferred.
• Completion of PSC-required paraprofessional credentials.
• Understanding of IEP processes and classroom support roles.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to the instructional program in assigned classrooms, assisting in supervision, care, and instruction of special needs students.
• Assist in implementing IEP plans and monitoring student behavior during non-classroom time.
• Attend IEP meetings and communicate information to school personnel as needed.
• Adapt classroom activities and materials to reinforce IEP objectives and ensure inclusive participation.
• Administer immediate first aid and basic medical assistance as instructed by health professionals.
• Administer tests, homework, and make-up work to support teachers.
• Assist medically fragile or physically disabled students with grooming and personal hygiene.
• Support students with daily living skills and mobility needs as assigned.
• Collaborate with teachers to evaluate progress and implement IEP objectives.
• Help collect data under supervision of teachers and reinforce learning.
• Monitor students during hallways, cafeteria, and bus duty as assigned to ensure safety.
• Maintain records and support functions (attendance, logs, student files).
• Provide instruction in small or group activities to reinforce instructional objectives.
• Respond to emergencies and apply crisis intervention procedures as trained.
• Support appropriate conduct and escort students to activity areas as needed.
