Qualifikationen

• Paraprofessional Educator certificate issued by the Georgia PSC (Required)
• HS Diploma or GED and Praxis Parapro Assessment (before Mar 1, 2007) or GACE Parapro Assessment Required
• In lieu of assessments, 60 semester or 90 quarter hours from a PSC approved college or university are Required
• Experience in a licensed child care environment preferred

Aufgaben

• Provide support to the instructional program within an assigned classroom with responsibility for assisting in supervision, care, and instruction of special needs students in regular and special education settings.
• Adapt classroom activities and materials under supervising teacher to reinforce IEP objectives and ensure inclusion.
• Administer immediate first aid and medical assistance as instructed by a health care professional.
• Administer tests, homework, and make-up work to support teachers in the classroom.
• Assist medically fragile or physically disabled students with personal hygiene.
• Assist students with disabilities with grooming, community access, and other daily needs.
• Confer with teachers on progress and implementing IEP objectives.
• Implement and collect data under supervision of teachers and behavioral plans.
• Monitor special education students to provide a safe and positive learning environment.
• Perform record keeping and data collection to support teachers.
• Provide instruction to students in various activities to reinforce instructional objectives.
• Respond to emergencies and apply crisis intervention procedures as trained.
• Assist with monitoring duties (hallways, lunchroom, restrooms, bus duty) and maintain order.
• Other duties as assigned.
