Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a Paraprofessional in Special Education to support students under the direction of licensed staff. The role emphasizes following instructional plans, reinforcing curriculum, and assisting with behavioral supports in a 180-day school year.

The position requires ISBE paraprofessional approval or teaching license, strong communication, and ability to utilize educational technology. Bilingual Spanish is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Valid ISBE paraprofessional approval or ISBE Teaching License.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, procedures, and textbooks.
• Ability to write reports and general correspondence.
• Ability to present information effectively to educators, administrators, parents, students, and the public.
• Bilingual, Spanish preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Follow written plans and certified staff direction.
• Use instructional time effectively.
• Re-teach and reinforce essential concepts across the curriculum.
• Prepare and organize materials to support teaching and learning.
• Use a variety of positive behavioral supports.
• Provide least intrusive level of support based on the learning environment.
• Assist in collecting and providing objective, accurate information.
• Support integration of individuals with exceptionalities into various settings.
