Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a Paraeducator Special Education to support students with disabilities across multiple settings, coordinating with teachers and staff. The position is full-time, 184 days per year, 6.5 hours per day, with responsibilities spanning instruction support, behavior management, and progress documentation.

The candidate must have a high school diploma, PCA certification within 30 days, and may need 60 credits or an AA degree or pass ParaEducator/ParaPro exams.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; PCA certification due within 30 days of start.
• 60 credits/90 quarter credits or an associate degree (or higher), or pass the ParaEducator/ParaPro exam.
• Good communication, interpersonal, and recordkeeping skills; able to work with technology and computers.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds and perform physical tasks in building.

Responsibilities

• Assist in instruction of students with disabilities in mainstream, resource room or center-based settings.
• Manage behavior by redirecting, calming, or removing disruptive students from the classroom.
• Monitor and record student progress in academics, daily living skills, dressing, grooming, social skills, etc.
• Manage physical needs including toileting, feeding, dressing, lifting, and transporting students in wheelchairs.
