Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a Part-time Paraprofessional for Special Education to support certified staff in meeting instructional goals. The role involves assisting students with diverse needs, supervising small groups, and helping with classroom activities.

The position requires a High School diploma or equivalent, with experience in special needs settings preferred. Hours are 5.5 per day, 174–176 days per year, with pay per salary schedule and benefits such as PERA and paid leave.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required; completion of related coursework preferred.
• Ability to assist with instructional activities and record student progress.
• Experience with students with special needs is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist certified staff in implementing instructional goals and activities.
• Supervise students individually or in small groups to reinforce learning.
• Support with classroom preparations and materials for lessons.
• Document student learning and performance through records.
• Assist with behavior management to maintain a safe, orderly classroom.
• Support non-instructional duties such as supervision during lunch, bus duty, and recess.
• Accompany students on field trips to assist with supervision and activities.
• Assist students with special needs to maximize inclusion and IEPS objectives.
