Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional to support students with diverse needs under licensed staff supervision. You will assist with instructional activities, behavior support, and data collection to monitor progress and ensure IEP requirements are met across settings.

This part-time, on-site role requires strong communication, teamwork, and flexibility to adapt to student needs and schedules. Comprehensive benefits accompany the position.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher or 72 college quarter hours or ETS test.
• Right Response Trained or willingness to be trained.
• First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to be trained.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, patience, empathy, and growth mindset.
• Ability to provide and follow oral and written communications.
• Demonstrated organizational skills and flexibility to respond to changing student needs.
• Maintain confidentiality and work both independently and in a team.
• Collaborate with staff, students, and families; positive attitude.
• Attend trainings and perform essential functions with reasonable accommodations.

Responsibilities

• Provide directed learning experiences for students in social/emotional and academic support per certificated staff instructions.
• Monitor classroom behavior focusing on safety and academics.
• Implement behavior strategies and program modifications per behavior plans.
• Safely de-escalate students as needed.
• Collect and chart data as directed by staff.
• Prepare materials and maintain records for BIPs and IEPs.
• Assist with accessibility in school activities (lunch, doors, bus drop).
• Attend meetings, trainings, and clinics as appropriate.
• Support personal care needs as assigned (transfers, toileting, hygiene, feeding).
• Other duties as assigned.
