Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a paraeducator to assist the teacher in delivering instruction, focusing on identified students. You will work with individuals and small groups, read aloud, operate AV equipment, and support centers and activities.

Responsibilities include assisting with assignments and assessments, maintaining classroom order, and supervising student transitions. Requires high school diploma or GED and experience with At‑Risk or special education students. Regular attendance is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum education of high school diploma or GED.
• At least two years of college (60 hours) or an associate's degree or a qualifying test score.
• Experience working with At-Risk and/or special education students.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to work with students individually and in small groups as directed.

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher in delivering instruction and supporting students.
• Read aloud or listen to students read.
• Operate audiovisual equipment, copiers, laminators, overheads and a computer.
• Facilitate centers and other learning activities.
• Communicate with teacher coordinating efforts needed.
• Reinforce school and classroom rules.
• Assist in publishing student work.
• Assist with instruction, assignments, testing and assessments.
• Assist with routine classroom activities, testing and assessments.
• Attend classes with students.
• Redirect and deescalate behavior as needed.
• Engage in CPI training as necessary.
• Monitor hall safety during passing time.
• Attend to regular attendance.
