Job summary

Gwinnett County Public Schools is seeking a Paraprofessional Educator for SpEd Pre-K to support instructional programs and assist with IEP goals. This role involves supervising and assisting students in regular and special education settings, helping implement plans, and attending IEP meetings.

Minimum requirements include a HS diploma or GED with Parapro assessments or PSC-approved college hours, and PSC paraprofessional certification.

Qualifications

• Minimum educational requirements include a high school diploma or GED and either Praxis Parapro or GACE Parapro assessment.
• Alternatively, 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours from a PSC-approved college/university are acceptable.
• Paraprofessional Educator certificate issued by the Georgia PSC is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to instructional programs for special needs students in various settings and assist with IEP implementation.
• Adapt classroom activities and materials to reinforce IEP goals and objectives.
• Administer first aid and medical assistance as instructed by a health professional.
• Assist with testing, homework, and make-up work to support classroom learning.
• Support students with daily living skills and manage student behavior under supervision.
• Collaborate with teachers on progress and data collection for IEP reporting.
• Monitor students during class, field trips, meals, and other activities to ensure safety.
• Record keeping and data management to support teachers and record-keeping needs.
• Provide instruction in small groups and individual settings to reinforce instructional objectives.
• Respond to emergencies and participate in crisis intervention as needed.
