Job summary

Gwinnett County Public Schools in Georgia is seeking a Parapro Sp Ed - Resource/Inter to support the instructional program for students with disabilities across regular and special education settings. The role includes assisting in implementing IEP goals, supervising and aiding students in multiple environments, and attending IEP meetings.

The paraprofessional provides classroom reinforcement, administers first aid, supports daily living needs, and collaborates with teachers to monitor progress

Qualifications

• Paraprofessional Educator certificate issued by the Georgia PSC is required.
• HS Diploma or GED and passed the Praxis Parapro Assessment or the GACE Parapro Assessment.
• 60 semester or 90 quarter hours from a PSC approved college or university are required.
• Experience in licensed child care environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support instructional program in an assigned classroom and assist with supervision, care, and instruction of special needs students in various settings and IEP meetings.
• Adapt classroom activities, assignments, and materials to reinforce IEP goals and objectives.
• Administer immediate first aid and medical assistance as instructed by a health care professional.
• Administer tests, homework, and make-up work to support teachers in the classroom.
• Assist medically fragile or physically disabled students with daily needs.
• Confer with teachers on progress and implementing IEP objectives.
• Implement and collect data under supervision of the teacher and behavioral plans.
• Monitor students for safe and positive learning environments in multiple settings.
• Perform record-keeping and data collection to support teachers.
• Provide instruction in individual and group activities to reinforce instructional objectives.
• Respond to emergencies and crisis situations as needed.
• Assist with monitoring duties (hallways, lunchroom, restrooms, bus duty) with appropriate conduct.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
