Job summary

Minnetonka Public Schools in Excelsior Elementary is seeking a Paraprofessional/Special Education Para to assist with individualized instruction for students with disabilities in 1:1 or small group settings, under the direction of licensed staff.

The role requires collaboration in IEP meetings, proper documentation of progress, and adherence to data privacy policies, with a focus on safety and supportive instruction.

Qualifications

• Must meet highly qualified status as defined by MDE from day 1 of employment.
• Evidence of completion of Personal Care Assistant Training certification through Minnesota DHS.
• Experience supporting student instruction in the classroom preferred.
• Knowledge of behavior modification strategies including restitution and resiliency.
• Willingness to participate in district and paraprofessional trainings.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Support, modify, adjust and monitor individualized instruction for special education students in 1:1 or small groups.
• Assist with self-care tasks; lifting and basic medical procedures under supervision.
• Operate special education equipment and supervise safe use of devices.
• Apply student management techniques to prevent self-destructive behaviors.
• Participate in IEP and school conferences as requested.
• Record observational data, logs, and behavior charts daily.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Participate in training on third party reimbursement and related tasks.
