Job summary

Bensenville School District 2 seeks a caring 1:1 Special Education Paraprofessional to support a student with diverse needs in an inclusive school community. Under supervision of a certified teacher, you will provide individualized academic, behavioral, and social support to help the student access the curriculum.

The ideal candidate is dependable, patient, and collaborative, with strong communication skills to work with teachers, related service providers, families, and others.

Qualifications

• Paraprofessional License required or pending.
• Experience with children with disabilities preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work as part of a collaborative educational team.
• Patience, flexibility, and commitment to supporting diverse learners.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support to a student throughout the school day, as directed by the classroom teacher and special education team.
• Assist the student in accessing and participating in classroom instruction and school activities.
• Support implementation of accommodations, modifications, behavioral strategies, and other supports identified in the student's IEP.
• Assist with academic, social-emotional, behavioral, communication, and/or self-help needs as appropriate.
• Provide prompting and support while encouraging the student's independence and development of appropriate skills.
• Assist with transitions between classrooms and other school settings.
