Job summary

Federal Way Public Schools seeks a dedicated paraeducator to support students with identified disabilities in the functional life skills domain. You will work under a certificated teacher to assist with instructional activities and health care needs, including feeding, hygiene, and mobility.

You may also work with students with behavioral challenges in a supportive classroom environment. Responsibilities include helping students meet IEP objectives, preparing materials, lifting and positioning

Qualifications

• Proficient in basic spelling, math and grammar.
• Experience in reading instruction, remediation, and assessment.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with meeting IEP goals and maintain records.
• Prepare classroom and materials as directed.
• Ensure facilities are clean and safe.
• Assist students with personal care (toileting, hygiene).
• Perform medical procedures as directed by nurse (med administration, catheterization, suctioning, tube feeding).
• Lift and position medically fragile students.
• Support students with behavior plans and de-escalation.
• Supervise students in lunch, recess, PE, music, library and field activities.
• Assist students on and off the bus.
• Report concerns to supervisor.
• Promote safety and security in daily routines.
• Perform instructional clerical tasks.
• Collaborate with district staff and support teamwork.
• Assist substitute teachers with information.
