Job summary

Federal Way Public Schools seeks a paraeducator to work 2:1 with a special needs student under the direction of a certified teacher, specialist or principal. The role supports instructional and daily living tasks to help the student achieve the highest level of independent functioning possible.

Key duties include assisting with IEP goals, data collection, behavior plans and safe transitions, plus collaboration with staff and adherence to PBIS and district policies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• AA degree or credits, or paraeducator assessment test required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the care of medically fragile or behaviorally challenged student as directed and/or stated in their IEP.
• Assist in daily instruction and in planning/implementing lessons based on IEP goals.
• Collect, analyze, and maintain data to modify IEP and help determine program effectiveness.
• Develop and implement behavior plans for the student.
• Assist with teaching daily living skills including hygiene and routines.
• Change diapers and/or toilet train as needed.
• Assist with transitions between activities and locations.
• Follow safety and district procedures at all times.
