Job summary

Chicago Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Classroom Assistant to support teachers and students in classrooms, following IEPs and school policies. The role includes one-on-one tutoring, assisting with daily living skills, and supervising students during activities and field trips.

Applicants must hold a valid ISBE paraprofessional license (TASN/NCLB) or meet the college-hour requirement (60 semester hours) and may need CPR training.

Qualifications

• Must possess valid TASN paraprofessional license (ISBE)
• 60 semester hours of college credit or paraprofessional exam
• Ability to work with students with various disabilities; follow written and oral instructions
• CPR training desirable or will complete training as a condition of employment

Responsibilities

• Assist in instruction of students with disabilities in classrooms and at activities
• Provide one-on-one tutoring and support for learning concepts
• Assist with daily living skills and personal care as required
• Record student behavior notes and assist in homework/exam correction; accompany on field trips
