Job summary

Chicago Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Classroom Assistant to support students with various disabilities under the direction of a teacher and principal. You will reinforce instruction, provide one-on-one tutoring, and assist with personal care tasks in classrooms; emphasis on IEP implementation and safety procedures.

Candidates should have a valid TASN paraprofessional license or 60 college hours, strong English skills, and good written communication.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid TASN paraprofessional license or have 60 college credits.
• Knowledge of the characteristics of students with various disabilities.
• Good knowledge of English grammar and spelling.

Responsibilities

• Assist in reinforcing instruction for students with disabilities according to each student’s IEP.
• Provide one-on-one tutoring and personal hygiene support as needed.
• Maintain written records of student behavior and assist with homework and exams.
