Job summary

Chicago Public Schools seeks a Special Education Classroom Assistant to support students with various disabilities under the guidance of a Special Education teacher. The role includes one-on-one tutoring, personal care, and assisting with daily living skills in a classroom setting.

Requirements include a valid ISBE paraprofessional license or completion of 60 college credits with a paraprofessional exam. CPR training is desirable.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid TASN (NCLB) paraprofessional license from ISBE.
• 60 semester hours of college credit or successful paraprofessional exam.
• Good knowledge of students with various disabilities and basic academics.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions and complete reports.
• CPR training is highly desirable; training may be required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in reinforcing instruction for students with disabilities.
• Provide one-on-one tutoring and personal care as needed.
• Assist in maintaining written records of behavior and progress.
• Support teachers with field trips and classroom activities.
• Help with documentation and daily living skills training when required.
