Job summary

Chicago Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Classroom Assistant to support teachers and students with disabilities in a Chicago, IL setting. The role involves one-on-one tutoring, personal hygiene assistance, and helping with adaptive devices during instruction.

Applicants should hold a TASN paraprofessional license or equivalent, have coursework or exams completed, and be ready to work under the supervision of a Special Education teacher. CPR training is highly desirable.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of characteristics of students with various disabilities.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions; maintain basic written reports.
• CPR training desirable; initial CPR training may be required.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in reinforcing learning for students with various disabilities.
• Provide one-on-one tutoring and personal hygiene support as needed.
• Assist with assistive devices and adapted equipment in classrooms.
• accompany students and teachers on field trips and in visits to clinics.
