Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead a team responsible for spacecraft mechanical design, packaging, and interfaces through all development stages. You will direct architecture trades, analyses, and qualification efforts, coordinating with GNC, EPS, CDH, Payload, RF and Systems groups to ensure robust, flight-ready structures.

The ideal candidate has 11+ years in satellite structures and at least 5 years of leadership, with hands-on CAD/FEA experience and a track record

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited school.
• 11 years of experience in satellite structures and mechanisms design.
• At least 5 years leading technical teams.
• Major contributions to multiple flight missions; lead ownership of full mechanical development cycles.
• Experience with AI&T for satellite design and environmental testing.

Responsibilities

• Lead a small team of engineers for mechanical aspects of spacecraft across all phases.
• Define architecture, trades, block diagrams, analysis, and qualification plans.
• Collaborate with GNC, EPS, CDH, Payload, RF, Systems, and AI&T teams.
• Present design reviews to customers and executives; participate in proposal writing.
