Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Mechanical Engineering team. You will own mechanical design aspects of phased array antennas and subsystems, guiding products from concept through flight, including requirements definition, architecture trades, analysis, manufacturing, testing and qualification.

The role requires strong CAD/FEA skills, experience in aerospace materials, EMI/EMC mitigation, and familiarity with space environment considerations.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university.
• Minimum 4 years in space antenna and payload mechanical engineering including electronics packaging, thermal, shock, vibration, etc.
• Experience in architectural trade studies with parametric and first-order cost/physical analysis.
• Proficient with mechanical and FEA CAD tools (Ansys, SolidWorks) and Thermal Desktop.
• Experience with CNC manufacturing and GD&T.
• Experience with advanced aerospace manufacturing and materials (sandwich panels, carbon composites).
• Proficiency in detailed mechanical design (3D CAD, drawings).
• Experience designing/manufacturing mechanisms and actuators.
• Experience with EMI/EMC mitigation techniques.
• Familiarity with satellite thermal architectures and orbital thermal control.
• Familiarity with launch and LEO environments.
• Familiarity with design for test, manufacturability, assembly, and reliability.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design of Cesium phased array antennas and subsystems through all development phases.
• Perform architecture trades, block diagrams, analysis, and testing for space hardware.
• Prepare and present engineering design review materials to customers and executives; participate in proposals.
