Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking a Senior Staff Mechanical Engineer to lead a small team responsible for the mechanical design of spacecraft, subsystems, and interfaces through all development phases. You will drive architecture trades, ensure robust mechanical designs, and mentor upcoming engineers toward spaceflight readiness.

The role requires hands-on CAD/FEA, environmental testing, and close collaboration with GNC, EPS, CDH, Payload, RF, and Systems teams to deliver qualified, manufacturable

Qualifications

• 12+ years in communications satellite structures and mechanisms design.
• Lead ownership of full mechanical development cycles at space vehicle level.
• Experience leading technical teams for 5+ years.
• Strong proficiency in mechanical interfaces and cross-functional collaboration.
• Hands-on experience with AI&T in satellite environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of engineers across mechanical design, analysis, and qualification.
• Define architecture, trades, and block diagrams from concept to space flight.
• Collaborate with GNC, EPS, CDH, Payload, RF, Systems, and AI&T teams to ensure integrity and manufacturability.
