CesiumAstro is hiring a Staff Mechanical Engineer to lead a small team responsible for the mechanical design of spacecraft, subsystems, and interfaces from concept to space flight.

The role emphasizes expert CAD/CAE work, cross‑functional collaboration, and hands‑on leadership in a startup‑like environment. Strong communication skills and experience with environmental tests are essential.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university.
• 9 years of experience in communications satellite structures and mechanisms design.
• At least 5 years of experience leading technical teams.
• Experience with mechanical interfaces and cross‑functional alignment.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of engineers responsible for mechanical aspects of CesiumAstro spacecraft, subsystems, and interfaces.
• Deliver robust mechanical designs from concept through space flight, including requirements, architecture, analysis, and testing.
• Collaborate with GNC, EPS, CDH, Payload, RF, Systems, and AI&T teams.
• Present engineering design review materials to customers and executive team.
