Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the Internal Missions team to develop space hardware for communications satellites. You will own mechanical design across all development phases, from requirements through flight qualification, delivering lightweight, reliable structures and efficient packaging.

The role requires hands-on CAD, analysis, and collaboration with the engineering and program management teams to ensure successful builds and on-orbit support for our rideshare

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience, including supporting spacecraft or aerospace hardware.
• Experience applying mechanical engineering fundamentals to areas such as structural design, electronics packaging, thermal considerations, shock, and vibration.
• Experience with mechanical design and development, including 3D CAD, engineering drawings, and GD&T.
• Experience supporting hardware through design, analysis, manufacturing, integration, and/or test.
• Familiarity with spacecraft or launch environments and their impact on mechanical design.
• Experience with advanced aerospace materials and manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design from concept through space flight, including requirements and architecture trades.
• Perform analyses and packaging, manage manufacturing and integration activities.
• Develop thermal architecture and environmental qualification for spacecraft.
• Collaborate with engineering and program management to enable successful launches.
