Job summary

CesiumAstro is expanding its Mechanical Engineering team and seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to drive design of phased array antennas and related subsystems for space platforms. You will contribute from concept through flight, performing architecture trades, 3D CAD, drawings, and qualification tests.

The role requires strong experience in mechanical design, thermal management for spacecraft, and EMI/EMC mitigation, plus excellent communication to clients and internal teams.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university.
• 4+ years in space antenna and payload mechanical engineering including packaging, thermal, shock and vibration.
• Experience with architectural trade studies and parametric/first-order cost analysis.
• Proficiency with mechanical/FEA CAD tools (Ansys, SolidWorks) and Thermal Desktop.
• Experience with CNC manufacturing and GD&T; familiarity with aerospace materials.
• Detail-oriented mechanical design (3D CAD, drawings) and mechanisms actuators.
• Experience with EMI/EMC mitigation and spacecraft thermal architectures.
• Comfort with design for test, manufacturability, assembly, and reliability.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Own mechanical design for Cesium phased array antennas, subsystems, and interfaces through development.
• Perform mechanical analysis, electronics packaging, thermal concepts, and environmental qualification.
• Present design reviews to customers and executive team; contribute to proposals.
