Job summary

CesiumAstro seeks a Principal Spacecraft Mechanical Engineer II to lead a team responsible for mechanical design of spacecraft, subsystems, and interfaces from concept to spaceflight. You will oversee architecture trades, analysis, manufacturing, assembly, and in-orbit support while coordinating with GNC, EPS, CDH, Payload, RF, Systems, and AI&T teams.

The role requires hands-on CDT experience, strong communication skills, and a track record in successful flight missions and leadership of

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university.
• 11 years in communications satellite structures and mechanisms design.
• 5+ years leading technical teams.
• Experience with full mechanical development cycles for space vehicles.
• Experience with structural and thermal analysis to meet requirements and manufacturability.
• Hands-on experience with AI&T for satellite systems.
• Experience with environmental test campaigns (vibe, shock, TVAC).

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of engineers responsible for mechanical aspects of spacecraft through all development phases.
• Direct, mentor, and grow a team; coordinate with GNC, EPS, CDH, Payload, RF, Systems, and AI&T teams.
• Present design reviews to customers and executives; contribute to proposals.
