Job summary

Proviso Township High Schools in Hillside (Proviso West High School) seeks an Assistant Coach for Boys Football (Sophomore). The coach will assist the Head Coach with planning, drills, and conditioning to develop a safe, inclusive program that promotes student growth.

The ideal candidate will have a valid Illinois teaching certificate or ASEP/NFHS certification, IHSA concussion and CPR/AED training, Title IX training, and coaching experience; responsibilities include equipment, eligibility, and

Qualifications

Valid Illinois State Teaching Certificate (Type 03, 09, or 10) OR ASEP/NFHS Certification per IHSA.
CPR/AED certification and IHSA concussion training are required.
Completion of IHSA concussion awareness and other safety protocols; Title IX training.
Background check and fingerprinting and compliance with state laws.
Coaching certification through ASEP, NFHS, or IHSA-approved programs.
Strong coaching knowledge of the sport and prior successful coaching experience.
Commitment to equity and inclusion in athletics.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with Head Coach to design drills, practice plans, and conditioning.
Provide individualized feedback on technique, effort, and sportsmanship.
Assist with game-day logistics, equipment setup, and scorekeeping.
Maintain and inventory equipment; coordinate repairs and storage.
Monitor IHSA rules, safety protocols, and concussion management.
Support eligibility tracking and documentation (physicals, academic clearances).
Build positive relationships with students, parents, staff; liaise with Head Coach.
Attend preseason meetings and postseason tasks; assist with schedule and travel logistics.
Support budget management and program communications.
