Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to support our Power Division and lead the electrical design of solar PV projects, including plant layout, hardware selection, and interconnection planning.

You will coordinate with internal leaders, manage budgets, respond to RFPs, and supervise engineers and designers, ensuring adherence to firm standards and project schedules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Renewable Engineering program.
• Knowledge of NEC and NESC.
• Knowledge and proficiency in electrical power system modeling tools.
• 4–10 years of experience in electrical distribution, generation or related design.
• Ability to read and create construction drawings and specs.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Strong written and verbal communication, and client-facing skills.
• Experience with proposals, budgets, invoices, and change orders.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design and prepare construction documents for projects.
• Coordinate with civil, geotechnical/structural, and survey teams.
• Manage project electrical design budgets and schedules.
• Respond to RFPs by preparing scope and fees for electrical engineering.
• Oversee staff performing calculations and studies (short circuit, load flow, voltage drop).
• Coordinate with clients, utilities, and code officials.
• QA/QC of design work and maintain firm standards.
• Mentor graduate engineers and designers.
