Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking an Electrical Project Engineer to support our Power Division. This role designs solar PV systems, including plant layout, equipment selection, optimization, interconnection requirements, and leadership of electrical engineering on projects.

The successful candidate will coordinate with the Project Lead and Senior Engineers, supervise junior engineers and designers, and ensure adherence to firm standards while meeting schedules and client needs.

Qualifications

• Lead electrical engineering portions of commercial and utility scale solar.
• Responsible for contractual electrical engineering scope and change orders coordination.
• Ensure electrical deliverables meet schedules and project requirements.
• Coordinate with civil, geotechnical, structural engineers, and surveyors.
• Create construction documents and perform electrical calculations and studies.
• Coordinate with clients, utilities, and code enforcement officers.
• QA/QC of design work by interns, graduates, and staff engineers.
• Maintain awareness of equipment and industry best practices.
• Collaborate with other offices and support field construction via RFIs and submittals.
• Supervise, train, and mentor junior staff.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical engineering portions of solar projects and utility-scale designs.
• Verify incorporation of electrical scope into design and manage change orders.
• Meet project deliverable schedules for electrical scope.
• Coordinate multi-discipline design with other engineering teams.
• Produce construction documents and perform electrical studies.
• Support project installation with RFIs and submittal reviews.
• Mentor interns, graduate engineers, and designers.
