Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking an Electrical Project Engineer to design solar photovoltaic systems, including plant layout, equipment selection, and optimization.

You will coordinate with senior engineers and project leads, oversee junior staff, and ensure adherence to firm standards and project schedules. The role involves electrical calculations, construction documents, client coordination, and QA/QC of designs, with potential supervision of interns/new grads and involvement

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Electrical or Renewable Engineering.
• Knowledge of NEC and NESC.
• Proficiency with electrical power system modeling software.
• 3–7 years designing electrical distribution, generation, or electrical construction.
• Ability to read and create construction drawings and specs.
• Strong communication and teamwork.
• Experience mentoring interns or junior staff.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical engineering portions of commercial and utility-scale solar projects.
• Coordinate electrical scope and change orders with project manager.
• Ensure electrical deliverables meet schedules and quality standards.
• Coordinate with civil, geotechnical, structural engineers, and surveyors.
• Prepare construction documents and perform electrical calculations and studies.
• Supervise and mentor junior engineers, designers, and interns.
• Respond to RFIs and review submittals to support construction.
