Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. seeks an Electrical Project Engineer to design solar PV systems within the Power Division.

You will lead electrical engineering portions, develop construction documents, perform short-circuit, load-flow, and voltage drop studies, and coordinate with civil, geotechnical, surveyors, and clients. The role includes mentoring junior engineers and interns, ensuring schedules and QA/QC, and staying current with industry practices.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering or Renewable Engineering
• Knowledge of NEC and NESC
• Experience with electrical power system modeling software
• 3–7 years designing electrical distribution, generation, or construction
• Ability to read/create construction drawings and specs
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and technical reporting

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical engineering portions of commercial and utility-scale solar projects
• Ensure electrical scope is incorporated into design and coordinate change orders
• Meet electrical engineering deliverable schedules
• Coordinate with civil, geotechnical, structural engineers, and surveyors
• Create construction documents and perform electrical calculations (short circuit, load flow, voltage drop)
• Coordinate with clients, utilities, and code enforcement
• QA/QC of design work by interns and junior staff
• Mentor interns and new grads, supervise team members
• Support fieldconstruction through RFIs and submittal reviews
