Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking an Electrical Project Engineer to support our Power Division. The role involves designing solar PV systems, including plant layout, selecting hardware, system optimization, and interconnection requirements.

You will coordinate with the Project Lead and Senior Engineers, and mentor junior engineers and designers. The ideal candidate has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering or Renewable Engineering, NEC/NESC knowledge, and experience with power system

Qualifications

• Lead electrical engineering portions of commercial and utility-scale solar.
• Ensure electrical scope is incorporated into design and change orders coordinated with project manager.
• Responsible for ensuring project deliverable schedules for electrical engineering scope are met.
• Coordinate with civil, geotechnical, structural engineers, and surveyors.
• Create construction documents and perform electrical calculations and studies (short circuit, load flow, voltage drop).
• QA/QC of design work by interns, graduate engineers, and staff engineers.
• Mentor interns, graduate engineers, and design technicians.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical engineering portions of solar projects and coordinate with Project Lead and Senior Engineers.
• Supervise junior engineers, electrical designers, and drafters on projects.
• Maintain firm standards and consistency across designs.
• Respond to contractor and owner requests including RFIs and submittal reviews.
• Provide training and guidance to junior team members.
