Job summary

Granite Construction in Texas is seeking a technical engineer estimator to provide engineering and cost information for solar projects up to 500MW, ensuring construction work complies with engineering standards from pre-drill to module installation.

You will support job controls, prepare daily cost reporting, interpret drawings, and coordinate with on-site teams to maintain schedule and budget. Proficiency in MS Office and HCSS HeavyJob is required, with a focus on safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field; or equivalent combination.
• 2+ years of construction estimating support, engineering, or field support experience.
• Proficiency with MS Office, Scheduling, and HCSS HeavyJob.

Responsibilities

• Assist with job controls to ensure contract, budget, schedule, forecasting, and job costing.
• Review and prepare daily cost reporting to the project team and upper management.
• Interpret design/drawings for craft workers installing material to ensure specifications are followed.
• Interface with on-site departments to resolve problems and support project schedule.
• Create 3-week look ahead schedules with input from the project team.
• Research and resolve drawing interpretation problems to verify compliance.
• Prepare and disseminate documentation such as status reports, punch lists, and material calculations.
• Provide technical support on project material controls to minimize additional costs.
• Prepare drawings and sketches to support construction work, change orders, and estimates.
• Provide building control lines and elevations for accurate measurement and installation.
• Develop essential data including quantity take-offs, material prices, and labor costs for estimates.
• Research historical data to develop guidelines for future estimates.
• May supervise project staff to ensure standards are met.
• Assist in client/project management meetings and contribute to daily POD meetings.
